YOUR CHOICES, YOUR STORY

You’re a few pages into the story. Your phone screen just cracked. Do you get it repaired, or do you toss it and buy a new one? Whatever you choose, the story keeps going, and so does the planet’s story, for better or worse.
That’s the idea behind this project: built for youth who are done being lectured about climate change and ready to actually live it out, one decision at a time.
Choose your own climate adventure
At the heart of it are 15 original adventure books, written for a young adult audience. You’re not just reading along. At every turning point, you decide what happens next: fix it or replace it, speak up or stay silent. Every choice branches into a new ending, and along the way you pick up something far more useful than a plot twist: a real understanding of why our climate is changing, what’s driving it, and what we can actually do about it.
No two readings have to look the same. That’s the point. The same book can teach ten different lessons to ten different readers because each one finds their own way through the story.
Fiction won’t fix the climate, but it can change how you see it
Let’s be honest. Fifteen books won’t solve the climate crisis. But storytelling can do something else: make it feel closer, more human and easier to talk about. It turns “climate change” from an overwhelming headline into a choice a character just made, and a choice you might make too.
Sometimes that’s as simple as a story nudging you to repair a phone screen instead of upgrading it or mend a jacket instead of replacing it. Small shifts. But small shifts, multiplied across every young reader who picks up the book, start to add up.
Turning readers into storytellers
It doesn’t stop at handing you a good story. It wants to teach you how to write your own.
Fifteen books, however carefully prepared by project partners, can never cover every corner of sustainability.
That’s why there’s a full Toolbox of Resources, complete with tutorial videos and a User Guide (coming soon!), made for young people who want to take their own climate story and put it into words, no writing experience required.
Through those materials, the whole process of creating an adventure book is broken down step by step: how to build a character worth rooting for, how to frame the questions you want your reader to wrestle with, and how to weave real, workable solutions into the heart of the plot, so the story doesn’t just describe a better future. It helps build one.
One story, many doors
Whether it lands as a PDF, a printed book, or an interactive Genially adventure on your screen, the goal is to meet young readers wherever they are. A good idea about saving the planet shouldn’t be locked into just one format, and we are here to help you develop it.
