The Green Saga project inspires young people to embrace environmental responsibility through interactive adventure books, gamified learning experiences, and personalized training.

CONTEXT AND NEEDS

1. Importance of Environmental Education

It’s crucial to provide young people with the knowledge and skills needed to tackle climate challenges. This approach nurtures critical thinking, problem-solving, and a deep sense of environmental responsibility. By learning about sustainability, students not only gain a better understanding of ecological issues but also develop the ability to make informed decisions to address them. The project’s interactive and engaging educational methods strengthen their connection to nature and inspire active participation in climate action.

2. Challenges

In today’s world, raising environmental awareness among youth is more important than ever. However, challenges such as a lack of engaging and accessible educational resources and poor integration of sustainability topics in schools persist. The European Union emphasizes the need to equip young people with the tools to fight climate change. The Green Saga project tackles these challenges by offering story-driven learning materials that inspire and empower young people to take meaningful action on climate change.

3. Project Green Saga

The Green Saga project engages young people in climate action through interactive storytelling and adventure-based learning. It fosters environmental awareness, critical thinking, and decision-making skills by weaving sustainability topics into immersive narratives. The project provides youth workers and teachers with innovative teaching resources, including 15 adventure books, a user guide, and seven comprehensive tutorials. By empowering youth, the project enables them to become active agents of change in environmental sustainability.

PROJECT RESULTS

Production and dissemination of innovative educational tools: creation of 15 adventure books, a user guide, and seven tutorials, translated into six languages.

Enhanced environmental awareness and active participation: involvement of 140 young people in the testing phase; they will receive a Youth Pass.

Professional development and certification: training of 10 youth workers who will receive Europass Mobility certificates.

Long-term impact and European-wide adoption: publication of a white paper which summarizes the project’s findings to promote a story-driven environmental education across Europe.
